Lost Tooth

My 7 year old finally lost his first tooth. When a few of his teeth finally started wiggling he was so excited, and declared that it was going to come out when we went camping...and you know what? It did! His first lost tooth is definitely something that needs to be scrapped.

I used paper from October Afternoon's Treasure Map collection. I just really like the colorful stars for the background of this layout.

I needed a place to keep the tooth, so I used the We R Memory Keepers 1-2-3 Punch Board to create a small envelope for the tooth. Since I was planning on keeping the envelope open as part of the design, I used the We R Memory Keepers Photo Fuse Tool and 2 x 2 Fuse Waterfall Sleeve to create an extra, clear pocket to seal the tooth in inside the paper envelope.

Since this photo he's lost one more tooth, but I'm pretty sure this first lost tooth that came out while camping will be the one we always remember.

Summer Memories Layout

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of Taylor Stamped. I do receive financial compensation and material product from  A Walk Down Memory Lane to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own. Some links are affiliate links.

School starts next week, but I still have some summer memories to scrap (and a few to make yet, too). We camp a decent amount during the summer. Before I had kids, camping wasn't even on my radar for fun things to do, but now that I have kids, it's a blast. They have so much fun, and my husband has almost as much fun as the kids do, so how could I not love it now?

October Afternoon's Summertime has been one of my favorite collections to scrap with this summer. I love the soft colors and the cute journaling cards (like the "it's Summer, and the memories are just waiting to happen" one I used on this layout).

The patterns really lend themselves to mixing and matching quite easily, too, which is nice when you're trying to fit some scrappy time in between all the fun summer has to offer.

Water, sand, and camping seems to be what summer is all about!

Using a Die to Create Journaling Space

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of Taylor Stamped. I do receive financial compensation and material product from American Crafts and A Walk Down Memory Lane to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own. I never seem to have enough space to journal. I usually like to journal on some sort of card or tag, and I just never seem to have enough of those. I often try to get creative for journaling space. Lately, I've been playing around with using a die to create journaling space. For my layout today I used the We R Memory Keeper's Lightbulb Garland Die to create a journaling card.

Being married to an electrician means he notices things like the electrical work and differences in building and electrical codes when we travel. I saw the string of lights paper in October Afternoon's Summertime Collection (in the Brick & Mortar Store at AWDML, and in the online store soon!) and thought it would be fun for documenting this quirky fact. The yellow sunburst paper is also from Summertime. I used it as a base layer for this layout, and also used it for my journaling card. To create my journaling card, I just lined up my light bulb die with the area of the paper I wanted to journal on. This paper just happened to have fun little rays for journaling. Then I ran the whole thing through my We R Memory Keepers Evolution Die Cutting Machine.

While I'm talking about dies and die cutting machines, I also want to mention that We R Memory Keepers is having 30 Days of Evolution for the entire month of August. What that means is that there are lots of fabulous projects using the Evolution on the WRMK Blog, and lots of chances to win prizes like dies and even your very own Evolution Advanced on the blog, Facebook page, and Instagram.

Nautical Layout

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of Taylor Stamped. I do receive financial compensation and material product from American Crafts and A Walk Down Memory Lane to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own. Some links are affiliate links.

We had some amazing seafood when we were in Ireland, especially in Galway. I wanted to create a nautical layout to commemorate my favorite dinner out of the whole trip, but I didn't want a nautical layout that wasn't all ships and blue, white, and red colors. Here's what I came up with.

I started the whole layout with that wood grain paper with the anchors on it from October Afternoon Treasure Map. I really like how it is subtly nautical, and I felt like it was a great starting point to build the layout around. From there I decided to pull in some blues, blacks, and grays to compliment the brown and black paper.

I grabbed a bit of paper from Kaisercraft Antique Bazaar, Jillibean Soup Summer Red Raspberry Soup, and October Afternoon Summertime. I also used paper and stickers from American Crafts Shimelle. I added just a bit of sparkle with some metallic colored sequins. I needed a lot of journaling space, so I found a card from We R Memory Keeper's Indian Summer Journaling Cards.

This layout was definitely pieced together from a number of different manufacturers and collections, but in the end I was able to put together a nautical layout that wasn't quite so traditionally nautical...and I kind of love it!
Have a fantastic week!

Treasure Map Layouts

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of Taylor Stamped. I do receive financial compensation and material product from A Walk Down Memory Lane to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

I had some ship and island photos to scrap, which was a great excuse to finally use the gorgeous October Afternoon Treasure Map collection. I have two, 2 page Treasure Map layouts to share today.

First, can we take a moment to admire the plaid in this collection? I think I'd use it on every layout if I could. Yellow, blue, grey, a pop of red...it just doesn't get any better.

We took the Happy Hooker out to the Aran Islands. The photos were a perfect excuse to use some anchor paper in my scrapping! For this 2 pager, I incorporated the map of the island as a big part of the layout and also threw in the receipt from our ferry ride.

My second layout has a lot of photos on it.

Since the photos were of an island and some dolphin watching on the island, I figured I'd keep with the nautical theme of Treasure Map. I especially love how the blues of the paper really make the blues in my photos pop.

Scrapping Boys with Fancy Pants Little Sport

Today I have a layout using Fancy Pant's Little Sport collection. Don't let the name fool you, this collection isn't only good for scrapping sports, it's a great general masculine themed line.  There are a few sports themed papers, but most of the papers are just beautiful, rich plaids and stripes.

Instead of using the stickers and embellishments from the collection, I used some journaling tags (Doo Dads) from October Afternoon and some AC Thickers for the title.

Family Time at School

We always have a few family events at school...I always like scrapping them :)

My youngest couldn't wait for his chance at Doughnuts for Dad. His older brother got to bring Dad to school for it, and now it was his turn:

I happened to have some leftover October Afternoon Woodland Park paper that I mixed with stickers from Simple Stories 24/7 Collection.

Just a few nights ago we had a family night at school, and my older boy's teacher had these "Kindergarten Favorites" photos of each kid.

Love this photo so much, and I had just picked up Fancy Pants Swagger. What do you know? It was PERFECT for scrapping this photo. Ooh, and that burlap heart? It came from Little Yellow Bicycle's new Naturals Collection.  The collection is full of cork, canvas, and burlap accessories that go so well on so very many projects.

A Fall Frame and a Pumpkin Patch Layout

I really love this time of year; not only are there lots of great outdoor activities, but there are some fabulous fall paper lines out right now to scrap those activities! Today I have 2 projects I made using October Afternoon's Witch Hazel. Witch Hazel is technically a Halloween line, but it's really lovely for all fall things. In fact, the first project I made with it was an autumn frame.

I made this frame for A Walk Down Memory Lane, so you can find the step-by-step directions for it here.

I also made a layout of my youngest son picking out his pumpkin this year. I really love the mix of traditional Halloween images with non traditional colors and patterns. It makes for a very versatile and fresh feeling line of papers and embellishments.

Please excuse the burst of light in the photo. It was a beautiful, sunny day...and when a 4 year old decides he wants his picture taken, you take it even if the sun is right in the background!

Farm Boys

My in-laws live on a small farm with lots of animals. When you're a little boy, life doesn't get much better than getting dirty on the farm. Every time we set foot at their house, the first thing out of my boys' mouths is, "Can we go play on the bales?" Of course, I had to photograph and scrap this summer fun.

I ended up with 3 total layouts. 1 of my oldest, 1 of my youngest, and one of them both together. I decided to do all my journaling on the one of them both together, so I was able to get a little extra creative on the layouts that I didn't journal on. Today, I'd like to share the 2 layouts without journaling. If you'd like to see the 3rd layout, you'll be able to find it on Thursday over on the AWDML Blog.

I wanted to have a little fun with this first layout and pay homage to where we live. Those Iowa stickers from Reminisce are a whole lot of fun, and this layout was the perfect time to use them. Let me point out something that's a little outside my norm for scrapping. See that sky paper I used for the base? Not something I would usually have on hand, let alone use. You see, the back side of the Blue Sky October Afternoon Woodland Park paper is a beautiful pattern. That's the side I would normally use...but for this layout, it just seemed to work. I paired that paper with Moxxie's Farm Livin' collection, and distressed the edges.

For the second layout, I decided to use the wood grain papers from My Mind's Eye's On the Bright Side collection.

I paired that with some stickers from Making Memories, Simple Stories, and Echo Park, plus a button from Bazzill. All in all, it's a pretty good fit for the photo, and I got to use up some leftover stickers from other projects.

2 page Layouts

I've been making more 2 page layouts than normal lately. It seems I have a lot of photos from this summer, and getting them down to just a few doesn't seem to be working. I always feel like my 2 pagers aren't quite as fancy as my 1 page layouts. Anyone else ever feel like that? Today I thought I'd share 3 of the 2 pagers I've made recently.

Last month we got a dirt bike, mostly for my husband, but the kids like to go for (very slow) rides with him, and I'm learning how to ride it , too (and I haven't hurt myself...yet!). When I have a theme like dirt biking, I like to mix the more themed stickers and papers with "regular" patterned papers that go along with the color scheme.

For this layout, I used Moxxie Racing Burn Rubber paper to form the background base of the layout. Then, to keep it from being all dirt bike, I added pops of color with patterned paper from October Afternoon's 9 to 5 collection. Then, to bring the theme back around, I used some dirt bike and helmet stickers from EK  Success.

Layout # 2 also mixes 2 collections:

We picked up a couple of build your own rockets to make and launch with the kids this summer. They're a lot of fun and go really, really high. This layout commemorates the inaugural launch. I used paper from Pink Paislee's Declaration collection. While it's more of a 4th of July collection, I felt the red, white, and blue theme went quite well with a rocket launch. To make the layout feel more rocket-y (it's totally a word) and less 4th of July-ish, I added stickers and journaling tags from October Afternoon's Rocket Age collection.

My final layout is just a bit of silliness.

My parents picked this up for my kids, and it's a lot of fun... so much fun that, if you look at the very far right picture, you'll see that I just had to get in on the fun too.

The paper is from a gorgeous collection by My Mind's Eye called On the Bright Side. It's fun and funky and really easy to create with.

So that's my tour of 2-page layouts for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Fun

I thought I'd pop in with a couple of layouts of some of the fun we've been having this summer. I chose these 2 today because they both use October Afternoon paper. This first one uses Boarding Pass.

So, I'm not really big on posting a pic of myself in my swimming suit, but...I love this photo. It's not too often that I'm in a photo with my husband AND both kids. On top of that, we're all smiling and having a good time. I couldn't resist printing this one out in a 5 x 7 and scrapping it.

At first glance this layout appears really simple, but I some fun adding detail with some hand stitching that I really thing adds a lot to the layout.

My second layout uses a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but the majority of the paper comes from October Afternoon's 9 to 5 line:

Even though school's out, I try to keep my little guys' brains engaged during the summer. They really enjoy doing interactive science experiments, and this is one they especially loved.

Here I combined a leftover bottle sticker with a birthday balloon puffy sticker to create a custom embellishment that looked like our experiment.

Just a Peak

I've been so busy...but unfortunately I can't show you what I've been working on until next month. I've been having a blast playing around with some of the new product released at CHA. A Walk Down Memory Lane is showing off all the goodies they ordered for the store at the end of August, and after that party at the store, I'll show you here in blog land some of the yummy creations made for that party. Here's a sneak:and a Peak:of a few things I've been working on.

AWDML has ordered so much new stuff that Lisa has discounted the whole store 15% for the month of August to make room for all the new goodies coming in. Click here to head on over to the store to take advantage of the savings. Here's a card I made using some stuff I picked up on sale (you know, just doing my part to help make room for the new stuff). The circle background is adhesive backed fabric from American Craft. The "BABY" onesies were cut with my Silhouette. The scalloped trim was done with my Fiskars Apron Lace Punch, and the ric rac is truly vintage (it came from a friend of a friend's old sewing stash). Happy crafting!

Moxie Mother's Day

This is Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger this week:I think I need that bag!

I decided to use the color inspiration here to make a Mother's Day card, since we all know what Sunday is!I'm sighing a little because this picture just doesn't do this card justice. I've been having a blast playing with these beautiful butterflies from Jenni Bowlin. All Jeni Bowlin stuff is on sale 25% off at A Walk Down Memory Lane this month (woo hoo!). The paper (isn't it gorgeous???) is October Afternoon Fly a Kite and Thrift Shop. The stamp is from Stampin' Up! and the border is done with Fiskar's Apron Lace punch.
If you want to play along in the Moxie Fab world details be found here.

Tuesday's Terrific Technique: Paper Pansy

Today I am starting a new feature on my blog. I love techniques, so every Tuesday I am going to try to share a technique or tutorial with you. Some of the techniques you may know, but hopefully many of them will be new.
I was playing around with my Scallop Circle Punch today and came up with this fun little paper pansy.
You will need:

2 pieces of patterned paper or card stock (or 1 double-sided piece). Here I am using October Afternoon's Cherry Hill line.

A scallop circle punch (I'm using Stampin' Up!'s scallop circle punch).

A good scissors.

Adhesive

Step 1:

Punch 2 circles from your paper of choice

Step 2:

Cut from the point of a scallop into the center of the circle. Do not cut all the way to the middle. Cut just short of the center of the circle.

Repeat this cut on EVERY OTHER scallop.

When you are finished your scallop circle should look like the picture below. Note the small area in the center of the circle where there are no cuts.

Step 3:

Cut 3 scallops out of the circle (this will remove 1 pair of scallops and leave a single scallop). You should now have a gap in your circle.

Step 4:

Adhere the single scallop to the back of the double scallop across the gap. Your flower will now have a cone shape.

Step 5:

Repeat this process on your second scallop circle.

Step 6:

Layer your 2 scallop circles on top of each other and carefully curl the petals down. (At this point you can use a dot of glue in the center of you circles to adhere the circles together or you can skip to step 7 and use a brad, eyelet, or some sort of embellishment to hold your flower together).

Step 7:

Add a center to your flower. I used a 5/16" brad, which is also holding my 2 scallop circles together.

Step 8: Use your paper pansy on something! I added it to this card along with a little ribbon from American Crafts and a "Thinking of You" stamp from Stampin' Up!'s Sincere SalutationsDon't be shy. Let me know what you think of this tutorial or if you have any questions about this technique. As with all new things, I will have a learning curve with this. Let me know if I can do something differently to make things more clear. If you enjoy this new feature, I'll try to make it a regular Tuesday post. Thanks in advance for your feedback!
