2 Page Layout: The Big Raft Lake Fun

School may have started, but I'm still working on my summer photos. 

I love the bright colors and pops of navy in Fancy Pants' Down By the Shore collection. I couldn't resist those colorful little fish for scrapping some sunny photos from the lake.  I layered Down By the Shore up with a few stickers, some enamel dots, a little washi tape and some wood accents.

Creativity is...

The start of school is just around the corner. I'm always looking for ways to organize, simplify, and, of course, display the fun projects my kids bring home.  My refrigerator doesn't have much room, and often doesn't do their projects justice.  Hopefully this will:

My husband builds things, and makes things, and repairs things, so there's always scrap wood lying around.  I had him cut a board that was about 3 1/2" tall to a little over 2' long (I actually held my hands apart and said, "I want it about this ____ long." Which makes him roll his eyes!).  I painted it with some leftover whitewash from my bulletin board project. 

 I used my Silhouette to cut the words from Basic Grey's Bowties paper and attached them with Ultra Thin Glue Dots®. 

 I used mini clothespins from Little Yellow Bicycle. I especially loved these for this project because they have words on them like, "love" and "wonderful".  I decided to stain them a blueish color (not shown in the picture above, but you can see it in the picture below) with Lindy's Stamp Gang T-bird Turquoise Flat Fabio Mist. I attached them with Glue Lines from Glue Dots®.

Now all I have to do is get my husband to hang it on the wall, and I've got a great place for my kids to display their work!

Happy Campers and Outdoor Adventures

It's definitely the time of year for scrapping lots of outdoor/woodsy/camping photos.  Okay, I don't actually camp, but we go to my parent's lake house, which has a nice woodsy feel, and we make s'mores and do woodsy things.  Close enough, right? Imaginisce has a collection called Outdoor Adventure. I love it's s'mores paper (and the dirt bike/ATV paper, but that's a post for another day).

 I layered up a few of the other outdoor adventure papers on top of the s'mores one. I sneaked in a chipboard sticker from We R Memory Keepers, and some washi tape from them as well (because, can you ever really have enough washi tape?).  It still needed a little something so I added these fun stick pins from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Being wood, you can stain these pins any color you want, but the natural color fit my layout perfectly. 

Now I have one less vacation memory to scrap, and one more to enjoy when I'm paging through my albums.

Color Challenge

If you follow my blog, you know that Glue Dots® did a blog hop with Lindy's Stamp Gang at the beginning of July.  For that blog hop, I got to play around with lots of Lindy's beautiful mists. I fell in love, and started regularly following their blog.  They have a new monthly color challenge, and I thought it would be fun to play along with July's challenge. 

This month's challenge included red, white and 2 shades of blue.  I figured that was the perfect color combo to pair with Little Yellow Bicycle's Vintage Summer collection and our photos from this year's 4th of July fireworks.  I had a canvas album from Little Yellow Bicycle that I thought would be fun to mist. 

 I used Lindy's Flat Fabio mist (that meas they are all the color, without the shimmer) in Danny Zuko's Denim (blue), and Rizzo's Rowdy Red.  As a side note, I didn't have a mask that I thought would work for the cover, so I cut one myself with my Silhouette machine and an old piece of patterned paper.  The up side is you can customize the mask to just the right size, shape, and style. The down side is you can use it for the one project, and then you have to throw it away.  This is the mask before I misted over it. 

 I was able to use it on the front and back covers of the album before having to throw it away.

Now that I've show you the covers, here's everything in between.  Every single paper, embellishment, sticker, etc. is from Little Yellow Bicycle's Vintage Summer or Naturals collections.

Vintage Summer

I'm kind of in love with Little Yellow Bicycle's Vintage Summer Collection. It's perfect for my 4th of July photos (I'll post a mini album I'm working on soon), and great for all other sorts of summer photos too. Here's a 2 page layout I did with Vintage Summer:

Besides gorgeous papers, this line has so many amazing embellishments. I'm not really a banner girl, but even I fell in love with the great canvas banner that goes with this collection.

...and of course, you've seen the "5 things" pockets show up often in my layouts and albums. I love these clever little ways to record memories.

2 Page Aquarium Layout

When the Simple Stories came out with their I Heart Summer collection, I picked it all up.  It's the quintessential summer collection.  I'm starting to use it to scrap photos from our trip to the Omaha Zoo.  Since I have lots and lots to scrap, I kept this one pretty simple.

 I used the fun fish print for our aquarium photos.  I kept with the natural feel and added some cork accents from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Fern & Forest Spring Mini Album

I've spent a lot of time in the last few days scrapping.  One of the projects I finally finished was a burlap mini album full of fun spring pictures.

I used Fern & Forest Boy from Little Yellow Bicycle for all of my paper and almost all of the embellishments. The only non-Fern & Forest embellishments came from LYB's Naturals collection.

Family Photo

Just a quick layout today.  I have an older family photo (taken 4 years or so ago) that's been in a frame. Recently I put something else in that frame so it was time to scrap the photo.

This is a pretty simple and straightforward layout.  I used Little Yellow Bicycle's Jut Because (mixing 12 x 12 and 6 x 6 papers). I LOVE the colors in Just Because, and they seemed to work just beautifully with the colors in my photo.

Fern & Forest

I have a layout today using Little Yellow Bicycle's Fern and Forest Boy collection.

I'm not the best at machine stitching, so it always gives me a mini panic attack to machine sew on my layouts, but sometimes there's just no substitute for it. I'm happy with how it turned out on this layout, and it adds so much!  Speaking of adding so much, it's no secret that I'm a big fan of Little Yellow Bicycle, in no small part because of all the amazing embellishments they make for their collections. I had no problem finding the right embellishments, my biggest problem was not using too many of them! 

The only embellishments not from LYB's Fern and Forest or Naturals collections are the enamel dots I used on the layout. Those are from My Mind's Eye.

Farm Life

Cutesy isn't usually a word I'd use to describe my scrapping, but once in a while, I like to dabble in the super cute. I live in farm country, my in-laws have animals on their farm, and Best Creation's ridiculously adorable Farm Life collection called to me.

 

...and some of the papers are even glittery! Adorable, right? What's a girl to do except make an equally cute mini album from it. 

 I decided to make an accordion album.  It's been a while since I've made one in this style and they're so versatile. You can make them just about any size or shape you chose. This one measures 4" x 4".   To make it just a little different, I rounded 2 of the corners.

Due to the length of the album, these photos post a little small, but you can click on the photo to see a full screen version of the picture.  I like that accordian albums are really easy to display. They stand up on their own, and you can fill both sides with photos. 

I used some dimensional stickers from Reminisce at the Farm collection that I thought went well with the Best Creations paper.

 I also added in some random embellishments (like Little Yellow Bicycle Naturals, enamel dots, ribbon, word stickers, and buttons).

Family Time at School

We always have a few family events at school...I always like scrapping them :)

My youngest couldn't wait for his chance at Doughnuts for Dad. His older brother got to bring Dad to school for it, and now it was his turn:

I happened to have some leftover October Afternoon Woodland Park paper that I mixed with stickers from Simple Stories 24/7 Collection. 

Just a few nights ago we had a family night at school, and my older boy's teacher had these "Kindergarten Favorites" photos of each kid.

Love this photo so much, and I had just picked up Fancy Pants Swagger. What do you know? It was PERFECT for scrapping this photo. Ooh, and that burlap heart? It came from Little Yellow Bicycle's new Naturals Collection.  The collection is full of cork, canvas, and burlap accessories that go so well on so very many projects.

1 Layout 2 Ways

After last winter, with very little snow, I'm really enjoying being able to take lots of winter pictures this year. Even better, I get to use all the amazing winter lines to scrap them! For this layout I decided to use Winterings from Little Yellow Bicycle.

You know how you like some layouts better than others? Well, I really liked this layout when I finished it, and the best part was that it went together in about 30 minutes. I decided that I liked the layout so much I'd use the same layering/photo placement with a completely different photo and set of papers and see what happened. We took a ton of pictures over the 4th of July, and I scrapped a little over half of them before getting a bit bored with it, so I set it aside. I thought it might be a good time to pull out one of those photos and get it scraped.

 I used Pebbles Inc.'s Let Freedom Ring collection to put this layout together. I don't like it quite as much as the winter layout, but not every layout can be my favorite.
