Valentine Subway Art

It's getting close to Valentine's Day, so it's time to switch out my seasonal printable frame (you can find winter here, fall here, and Christmas here). For Valentine's Day I decided to use a little 1 Corinthians Valentine Subway Art.

I found this amazing free Valentine printable from The Girl Creative. Make sure to leave her some love for providing it for free if you chose to use it, too. To customize it, I printed it out on a subtly patterned paper form Pebbles Inc's Yours Truly collection.

I added a little extra sparkle by matting it on some blue American Craft Pow! glitter paper. I mean, if you can't use glitter for Valentine's Day, when can you use it.

I put some rhinestones on here and there and used a Zig Wink of Stella brush to add some glitter to some of the red words. on the printable.

I popped in in my frame, and I'm all set for Valentine's Day.

December Album

I create a December album every year.  I don't like to call it a December Daily, because some days I don't scrap anything, and some day's I have multiple events (and pages) to do. We have so many events and do so many little fun things, that creating a large album with full pages for everything would take forever.  This way I can just quickly jot down my memories without taking too much time out from the fun of the season.

This is the second year in a row now that I've used a Simple Stories Snap album for my December album.  I love the versatility of choosing the style of pocket page protectors, and I have fun customizing the cover every year.

I kept it simple this year.  I'm using We R Memory Keeper's Silver & Gold for my journaling cards and embellishments. I keep the cover embellishing simple, since it won't be protected from wear and tear. You can't really see it in this photo, but I colored all of the silver or gold dots and berries with my Zig Wink of Stella brush to add some pretty holiday shimmer.

I like to decorate the inside cover just a bit, too. I always add our Christmas card to the front of the album.  Since our card just happened to be a 5 x 7 horizontal card this year, it wasn't going to fit in the 8 x 6 page protector without being turned sideways. I got around that by laminating it, punching a couple of holds in the card, and adding it directly to the album as a page.

As you can see, some of my pages are super simple. The idea is to just keep up with the memories.

Because I don't worry about putting something in every day, I don't get too worked up if things get a little out of order.  As you can see, I have a bland space on my right hand page.  I have the space to put a photo of the advent wreath we've been lighting all season, but my boys want to wait and use a photo from the last week of the season, so all 4 candles will be lit.

This is my favorite page. It's from my boys' Christmas program at their school.  I've also added a Stkr.it QR code for video of the program.

I use a little bit of everything to embellish my pages.  Of course, I'm using some of the We R Silver & Gold embellishments, but I'm also using Simple Stories DIY Christmas embellishments, and lots of stuff from my crafty stash.

How do you scrap your December memories?

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you're having a wonderful Christmas season!

Dashing Through The Snow

It's time for Moxxie's December Blog hop! Our theme this month is Holiday/Winter/Christmas...and of course there's a prize.  You'll find the prize, details on how to enter, and a list of a the blogs to hop to below my project.  Today I have a Dashing Through the Snow layout to share featuring Moxxie's Winterland.

We got a pretty decent snowfall back in November, and my kiddos couldn't wait to go out and play in it.

It's super hard to tell from the picture, but I used my Zig Wink of Stella clear marker and added gliter to the word "Snow!" on the title.  It's shimmery and really lovely in person.

There's a lot of purple in this line, which is really pretty...but my boys don't care for purple too much, so I minimized the amount of purple by choosing the papers that were primarily blue.  So, even if you're not big into purple Winterland is still an awesome collection!

Oak Grove

I have one last layout to share using My Mind's Eye's Cut & Paste (at least for now!).  I went on a little Cut & Paste scrapping binge, so today I'm sharing my Oak Grove layout.

We went camping one weekend, and it was so windy!  We couldn't have a fire, so we got silly and started taking goofy pictures.  I have some wonderful ones from that night.  I thought I'd start with this one of my goofy boys.

All of the paper is MME Cut & Paste.  The greenish washi tape is also My Mind's Eye.  That fun camera washi tape (which I owned for all of about 5 minutes before I found a reason to use it), is made by Queen & Co

I wanted a little something more on this layout so I traced all of the letters on the "Love U Forever" tag with a clear Wink Of Stella pen.  I use my Wink of Stella Pens a lot.  It's hard to tell from the photo, but they add some really lovely shimmer to your projects.

That's it for me today. Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome Sign

Sometimes I start a project with something in mind, and it ends up completely different than what I had in mind.  My welcome sign is definitely one of those projects.

I wanted to make a new welcome sign for my front door.  I wanted it to be summery, and I had a bit of an idea in mind, but when I started looking for a piece of paper, I came across this polka dot sheet I used for the background. I really liked it and decided that's what I wanted to use for the jumping off point for my sign.

All of the papers and embellishments are from Basic Grey's Highline collection.  I couldn't find any alphabet stickers that I liked for the letters for my welcome sign, so I decided to cut "Welcome" with my Silhouette Cameo.  The orange didn't pop enough, so I used a black Wink of Stella marker to trace the center of the welcome.

I also used the marker to color some wood chevron pieces from Studio Calico to turn them black and add a bit of shimmer. I've also found that whenever I'm making a decoration for my front door, Glue Dots® are the best adhesive to hold everything together.  My front door is used a lot and the sun shines directly on it for at least half of the day, so Glue Dots® are the only adhesive that holds up to the punishment.

While this sign is quite different from my usual style, and different than what I set out to create, I kind of love it anyways.

Hello Again Zoo Layout

Today I've made a layout using Carta Bella's Hello Again collection.  I'm still slowly working through our photos from our trip to the Omaha Zoo last summer, and I just finished another one, Here's my Hello Again Zoo Layout:

I talked about cheating hand written titles by cutting them out with a die cutting machine here.  I used my Silhouette to cut the Omaha title.

Then to give it an even more hand drawn feel, I sketched a line underneath it with my Zig Wink of Stella black brush tip marker.  If you haven't tried these markers before, I highly recommend them.  It doesn't show up well in my photograph, but the have some shimmer/sparkle to them.  They come in black, white, silver, and gold.  You can also get them with a more traditional marker tip (and in more colors), but there's just something about the brush tip that I really like.

I layered up some of the papers and embellishments in a few spots on the layout.

Pretty simple, but I've got another layout finished and into the books (well, sitting in a pile waiting to be put in a scrapbook at least).
