Are you celebrating World Card Making Day? I had a blast today teaching a washi tape card class to a great group of ladies at A Walk Down Memory Lane.
I hope you have a wonderful day!

Plaid Alcohol Ink Background
A little while back I heard about a technique that used alcohol inks to create a plaid background. It sounded so cool to me, and I had to try it out for myself. You know what? The technique is super fun and really, really easy. Check out the card I mad using this technique:
...and the possibilities are endless, since you can chose just about any color combo you want! Want to see more about how I created this card? I'm blogging over at A Walk Down Memory Lane today, and I have a video tutorial over there showing how to make a plaid background with alcohol inks. Click here to head on over to AWDML's blog tocheck out the video and to check out more about the card below.

Let's Celebrate
It's been a little while since I've posted a card, so I figured why not break out something I haven't used for a long time - my watercolor pencils! I embossed watercolor paper with a lattice background stamp, then I colored stripes with my watercolor pencils, blending with water as I went. When I was done blending the color, I used a dry paper towel to wipe the color off of the embossed area.
I used Nestabilites dies to create a framed cut out. Inside the cutout, I stamped "Let's Celebrate" from Lawn Fawn's Sopihie's Sentiments (little side note, this was my first ever Lawn Fawn set, and it's still one of my favorites). I stamped it twice withouth re-inking to try in give it a soft, shadowed look to go along with teh soft background.
I stamped the pinwheels from Lawn Fawn's Cruising Through Life with Staz-on ink on watercolor paper. I used the same watercolor pencils to color in the pinwheels, then I cut the pinwheels out and added them to my card.
Just a quick little card I created, because the idea popped into my head!

November News
Hello! It's November already, which means there are 2 new featured manufacturers at A Walk Down Memory Lane. November's featured manufacturers are Bo Bunny and Maya Road. That means you receive 25% off on all Bo Bunny and Maya Road purchases on-line or in the Brick and Mortar store. I had a blast creating with Bo Bunny. I especially fell in love with their new fall line (Forever Fall) and their Christmas Line (Blitzen). You'll have to keep an eye on the AWDML blog to see what I created with Blitzen later this month, but I can't help but share here a bit of what I created with Forever Fall:
My favorite thing about creating these was making the copper leaves. I created a video tutorial if you'd like to try your hand at making them too. You can find it here on AWDML's YouTube channel.

Let's Celebrate
I made this card for a dear friend of mine. I don't know if they've told the whole world they're expecting yet...so shhhhh. This will be baby #2 for them, and I'm just so excited for them to be adding to their family. I thought I'd send her a little note saying just that. Here's the card:
Lawn Fawn's Plus One is pretty much the perfect stamp set for all things baby. I paired it with some paper and trims from Crate Paper's Neighborhood collection. The grey pleated ribbon (which I have fallen in love with) is from May Arts. Now, I'm off to work on some layouts with some brand new papers I just picked up! Woo-hoo!!!

Bun in the Oven
It seems like life events go in waves. Right now I know quite a few pregnant people, so I decided it was time to add to my "congrats on your pregnancy" cards. Plus, it was a really good excuse to go out an buy Lawn Fawn's Plus One stamp set.

Taking Some time to Stamp
It's been a long time since I sat down with some stamps just for fun. Lately it seems like I've only been using my stamps for greetings on cards. Since stamping is what originally introduced me to the world of paper crafting, it seems a bit of a shame that I've been neglecting my stamps. Moxie Fab World has a Stamp It! challenge, and it just felt right to play along. I've got a card and a tag today.

Lawn Fawn is hands down one of my favorite stamp companies. It's a good thing I have at least a little self control, or I would own every one of their stamp sets. This adorable bike is from a set called Cruising Through Life. I'm a Copic novice, but I LOVE coloring on kraft card stock with my Copics.
I stamped the "hi" greeting on another one of my faves, stick pin flags. The paper, flags, and flower brads are all from The Girls' Paperie Jubilee collection.

I've made a very similar tag to this before. However, this time I just had to try out covering that pear with my new Glitter Ritz warm highlights glitter. Gotta love a glitter that doesn't rub off easily.
The background is a tag, covered in ripped and layered masking tape. I sponged brown ink onto the tape, stamped it with a Glitz Designs word background stamp, and then sealed the whole thing with a thick coat of Glossy Glaze. When that was dry I stamped "We make a fine Pear" with staz-on ink directly onto the tag. The pear was stamped, colored in, covered in glitter, cut out, and adhered to the tag. The pear stamp is from Mark's Finest Papers.
It was fun to get a little inky, but tomorrow I'm going to switch things up with some cards made using SRM Stickers.

White Space
I'm all for stepping outside my comfort zone and challenging myself, so recently I've been playing around with leaving more white space in my layouts and cards. It's been a fun challenge, but it does seem to take me far too long to achieve a minimalist look. Here are a few of my recent "white space" creations.
This layout was made with Bo Bunny's Ad Lib line. I love the bright colors and funky patterns in this line!
As you can see with this one white space can be other colors too:
The ribbon and the puffy star are new products A Walk Down Memory Lane just started carrying. I used Permanent Glue Dots® to pleat the ribbon (I'm telling you, those pleats are never coming undone). The stamp set is Sophie's Sentiments by Lawn Fawn.

This last one can be found on display at AWDML and is made with Fancy Pants' It's the Little Things line. Lisa ordered this line for the store when she was at CHA, but it hasn't started shipping yet. The stamped doilies are from Maya Road.
Now I'm off to pack up some things so I can scrap tonight with friends. Wishing you a crafty weekend!

Congrats Card
I mentioned in my post yesterday that My Mind's Eye currently has sketch challenge #19 going on. This month there's a layout sketch and a card sketch. Yesterday I showed you what I did with the layout sketch, today it's on to the card sketch.

I really love the look of kraft card stock, so I paired that with with MME's Alphabet Soup Boy papers. The best part about this card is that I was able to use up some leftover scraps from layouts I had made. I used We R Memory Keeper's Seweasy tool to do the stitching. I wanted the greeting to have a bit more depth, so I stamped it in brown first, and then stamped over the top in blue. It gives the greeting a shadowed look. The "congrats" stamp is from Lawn Fawn's Sophie's Sentiments (which you can get for 25% off through the end of the month at A Walk Down Memory Lane). The star was cut with my Silhouette SD machine.

On January 15, I will be teaching a class at A Walk Down Memory Lane all about Flower Soft. I thought I'd share two of the cards from the class, and also give you the class details.

Flower Soft Card Class
You will be introduced you to the amazing world of Flower Soft during this 2 hour class. You will make 3 cards, learn techniques and tips for using Flower Soft, and even go home with some Flower Soft so you can continue the creativity at home.
January 15, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Cost $20 Class Supplies needed: Your preferred adhesive.
Call AWDML at (712)476-3443 to reserve your spot.

As an added bonus, you'll get to play around with some Lawn Fawn stamps (which just happen to be one of AWDML's featured manufacturers for January!).

Swinging Card
I just picked up Lawn Fawn's Critters in the 'Burbs stamp set. I've been eying it for a while, but since I have a ridiculous amount of stamps, I've only been eying it. Monday, I finally gave in and bought it. I justified buying it because I'm planning on using it for a Flower Soft class I'm planning for A Walk Down Memory Lane (more details on that soon). As an added bonus, Lawn Fawn's having a contest. The winning card is going to be published in their catalog and be shown off at their CHA booth. Pretty cool prize, right? Here's the card I came up with for the contest:

I thought this set would make a fun interactive card. As you can see the tire swing spins on a piece of twine. The front side is the tire, and the back side is the greeting. The tree was stamped, colored with Copics, cut out, and popped up on foam adhesive. The grass was also stamped, cut and mounted with foam adhesive. The card measures 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".

Monday Sunshine
I love this line from Bo Bunny. It's called Sun Kissed. At first I didn't really think I needed a lot of this paper, so I just bought a few pieces...the first time. It so bright, bold, and fun that I ended up heading back to my LSS (A Walk Down Memory Lane) almost immediately for more. The buttons and brads on this card are also from the Sun Kissed Collection. I cut the sun and the orange layer using my Silhouette. To help the sun stand out, I stitched an orange border around it. The greeting is from a new stamp company called Lawn Fawn and the set is called Partly Cloudy. The greeting was stamped with Versamark and embossed with American Craft's Embossing Powder (color Cricket).
