Adventure Layout

A few weeks ago I shared a layout I made with the Scrapbooking Store's August kit. There's a lot in the kit. More than enough to make a few layouts, so today I have an Adventure Layout created with the August kit as well.

The upgraded kit includes ephemera from American Crafts. I love that while the ephemera coordinates, it can be used to change the whole feel of the kit.

While the paper in the kit (Echo Park's For the Record) leans more towards a vintage feel, when you add in the ephemera, the papers turn into and excellent way to scrap camping photos.

These photos are from a camping trip we took to one of our favorite camp grounds. We try to get there every year, and every year we stop and take photos when we bike across this little dam.

I can't wait to see what the Scrapbooking Store's September kit will be!

Prayers Sympathy Cards

I have, unfortunately needed far too many sympathy cards lately. While never the easiest to make, I thought I'd share my prayers sympathy cards today.

I used the Hero Arts Prayers stamp and matching die set as my starting point. I've had the set for a very long time, but this is the first time I've used it.

I then used a similar color palette of blues, greens, and gray or black throughout the set of cards.

I used different mediums like stamps, stencils, and ink blending to create different backgrounds for each of the cards.

My goal was to make the backgrounds soft to keep the focus on the sentiment.

While I don't love having a reason to use cards like these, it is so nice to have some on hand to send when they are needed.

Scrapbooking Store August Kit

A few weeks ago the Scrapbooking Store contacted me to see if I'd like to try out their upgraded August Kit. After poking around their website and social media pages, I couldn't wait to try out one of their fun kits. Here's the first layout I created with the Scrapbooking Store August Kit (notice I say first, because I've already created a 2nd layout, but you'll have to wait until next week to see it).

The August kit features Echo Park For the Record which has an elegant, vintage vibe. It's a great kit for family history scrapping and black and white or sepia photos, but I decided to challenge myself by thinking outside the box a bit to use a current photo. I ended up choosing a photo that my son and I took together at a wedding we attended this summer. We always say how much my oldest and his dad look (and act) alike, but once in a while we take a photo like this where I can totally see that he's my kid, too.

The optional upgrades for this kit were so worth it. The Studio Calico alphas, Heidi Swapp tab stickers, and American Crafts ephemera really helps tie everything together. To be honest, I'm not always the best at mixing and matching embellishments and ephemera across different collections. I love that the Scrapbooking Store did it seamlessly for me!

If you're looking for a fun kit at a great price, I'd definitely encourage you to check out the Scrapbooking Store. They have a lot of variety in their kits from month to month, and do an awesome job of pairing them with coordinating embellishments.

I received my Scrapbooking Store August Kit for free, but all the opinions and projects are mine.

Color Washed Little Girl Layout

I love my boys and all the fun boy themed papers out there, but sometimes I like to do a really girly looking layout. Thank goodness I have my sweet little niece to scrap, too! Today I have a Color Washed Little Girl layout to share.

Paper House Color Washed paper pad is so versatile! I have used it with so many themes, and once again it doesn't fail me. For this layout the watercolor theme gives a soft and pretty background to my layout. the gold foil triangles ad a pop of elegance, too.

Color Washed also pairs well with Paper House Daughter 3D Stickers. The 3D stickers add some extra texture to the layout and help draw your eye to the photo (which I always try to make the focal point of my layout).

This Color Washed little girl layout is the perfect fix for my need to scrap something nice and girly.

I wrote this post while participating on the Paper House Design Team.
