Swim
Welcome to your next stop on the the Summertime fun Moxxie blog hop! At the end of today's post you'll find a list of all the designers for today's hop (with links to their blogs) AND how to sign up to win a prize (because what's a blog hop without a great prize?). Today I have another layout about swimming, simply titled Swim. With 2 boys who are close in age, I often scrap similar themes over and over again. Last month I shared a swimming layout about my youngest son, and this month I'm sharing one about my older son.
Not only am I scrapping the same theme, but I decided to use the same paper collection (Child's Play) to show that 2 layouts with a similar theme, and same paper collection can turn out very, very different.
I did some patterned paper layering, and used my sewing machine to stitch around each layer. I decided not to frame my photos with patterned paper, but decided to pop them up with foam adhesive instead.
That rich sapphire blue patterned paper is not only great for swimming layouts, but serves as a great base for journaling on with a white gel pen. I finished the whole thing off with some layered die-cuts and stickers.
Supplies
Child's Play Crazy Daze
Child's Play Walk in the Park

Welcome Sign
Sometimes I start a project with something in mind, and it ends up completely different than what I had in mind. My welcome sign is definitely one of those projects.
I wanted to make a new welcome sign for my front door. I wanted it to be summery, and I had a bit of an idea in mind, but when I started looking for a piece of paper, I came across this polka dot sheet I used for the background. I really liked it and decided that's what I wanted to use for the jumping off point for my sign.
All of the papers and embellishments are from Basic Grey's Highline collection. I couldn't find any alphabet stickers that I liked for the letters for my welcome sign, so I decided to cut "Welcome" with my Silhouette Cameo. The orange didn't pop enough, so I used a black Wink of Stella marker to trace the center of the welcome.
I also used the marker to color some wood chevron pieces from Studio Calico to turn them black and add a bit of shimmer. I've also found that whenever I'm making a decoration for my front door, Glue Dots® are the best adhesive to hold everything together. My front door is used a lot and the sun shines directly on it for at least half of the day, so Glue Dots® are the only adhesive that holds up to the punishment.
While this sign is quite different from my usual style, and different than what I set out to create, I kind of love it anyways.
Thanks for stopping by!

Photo Birthday Card
Oh boy...I know, it feels like it's been forever. Life in summer can be so crazy. Right now I'm taking a quick breather before 65 cyclist show up to camp on our yard (and a few of our neighbors yards too) before they kick off RAGBRAI (Registers Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) tomorrow morning. In the mean time, I've managed to make a few projects, but not post any of them here. Ugh! So, today I have a quick photo birthday card to share.
I started out by layering Echo Park's Capture Life Die inside of Top Dog's Photo Mats die to get the Happy cut into the frame.
I combined my dies and photo with Pebbles Birthday Wishes collection. I utilized the papers, rub-ons and stickers from Birthday Wishes for this card.
When all is said and done, it makes for a pretty fun birthday card.

Princess Box Card
I don't know about you, but 4th of July weekend was crazy fun for our family. We always head to Wisconsin to spend a long weekend on the lake with my family, but this year we combined it with a baby shower for my sister. It was a princess themed baby shower, and of course I had to make an extra special card for my only sister's 1st baby. I decided to try my hand at a pop up card with this Princess Box Card.
If you haven't tried making a pop up box card yet, holy crow, are they fun, easy, and addicting to make! I used 2 different patterns from the Silhouette store and cut them with my Silhouette Cameo.
These boxes even fold down flat to fit into an A2 envelope (some fit a 5 x 7 envelope too, but the sizes are clearly marked in the Silhouette Store).
Picking paper was easy. For my patterned paper I used Pebbles Special Delivery Girl collection. The gray paper with the little hearts on it is my absolute favorite.
It's not too often that I get to make a really girly card, so I went all the way and used Pow! pink glitter paper for the castle. Was there really any other choice?
I really love how this card turned out, and can't wait to make more box cards. They're just so fun!

Princess Baby Shower Party Favors
You know what this weekend is (besides 4th of July weekend)?!? My sister's baby shower! My sister who didn't think she was going to have kids is having a little girl, and we're celebrating. She's coming in from California, and it's going to be a very princess baby shower. I was in charge of the party favors, and I decided to do a Princess in Training kit for each woman attending. Here are my Princess Baby Shower Party Favors.
First, I have to tell you that the patterned paper you see here is from Pebbles Special Delivery Girl and Pebbles Yours Truly. I just went through my stash and grabbed a lot of pink, pretty patterns.
Now on to the favors! I cheated and bought pink gift bags. I decided I just didn't have time to make bags. I did, however, find some glittery tissue paper to stuff in them, and used my Silhouette to cut "Princess in training" from silver Pow! card stock. Each favor is something fun, homemade, or princess-y, and each favor has a little princess favor truth attached.
There's a little jar of homemade raspberry rhubarb jam that says, "Love, joy & jam should be spread around". I created those labels (and all of my crown tags) with the print and cut feature on the Silhouette.
There's a little bag of gummy frogs (which just happen to be something my sister has been craving) that says, "You may have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince."
There is a bar of soap from a new recipe that I created (I'll share that in a different post) called Caffeinated Cocoa Butter Soap which says, "Even princesses need to take baths."
There's a princess wand that says, "To be a princess you have to believe you are a princess."
Finally there is some homemade Vanilla Cocoa Lip Balm that says, "A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear."
I'm so excited about how all of this came together! I can't wait for Saturday.
Have a fantastic weekend!
