Halloween Layout

Today I have one last layout to share using the Scrapbooking Store's October Kit. This is a simple Halloween layout. 

I truly used every last scrap of paper from October's kit. In fact, for this layout I had to grab a piece of 12" x 12" kraft paper from my stash to use as the base. This is the last layout I made with the kit, and had to get a bit creative. I used leftover journaling tags as frames for my photos. The "BOO" and "Happy Halloween" stickers are part of the Scrapbooking Store October Upgrade that you can add to your kit. 

This photo is from Halloween last year. Our basset hound, Kevin, was about 6 months old. We have the best UPS man around, and he is so good to our dogs. He and Kevin are the best of friends, so we just had to dress Kevin up as a UPS delivery guy for Halloween.

Globus Travel Layout

 Today I have another layout using the Scrapbooking Store's October Kit. Last week I told you that even though this kit is full of fall themed papers, it's not just for fall photos. Today I'm showing you just what I meant with this Globus Travel Layout.

I love the tiny dot paper in this collection. Mixed with the yellows and oranges, it was a great way to scrap a fun detour to to a very large supermarket we found in Germany. The best was shopping the candy section for the kids! 

 

Since most of the embellishments are fall themed, I had to get a bit creative and also do a bit of stash diving. The alphabets are from a previous Scrapbooking Store kit. I created a journaling tag by layering a bit of white card stock over a more fall themed photo on a plaid tag that I liked. A plaid border sticker and a heart sticker from the kit helped add a little bit to the overall look of the layout.

It may have been spring when we visited, but the papers from Hello Fall were perfect for this travel layout.

Travel Layout

It's February, which means a new kit from the Scrapbooking Store. I'll be sharing a few layouts later this month at the Scrapbooking Store, but I thought I'd kick off the February kit here with a double page travel layout.

February's kit features papers and stickers from Carta Bella's Flower Market collection. If you choose to add the upgrade kit you'll also get some washi stickers, ephemera, and dimensional tag stickers.

As you can see, I got a lot of use out of the washi from the add on. I can never gt enough of washi tape and washi stickers, and this set coordinates so well with the papers in February's kit. 

The colors in this month's kit are absolutely gorgeous. I thought they really made the colors in my photos pop. Speaking of the photos, they are of a famous cuckoo clock in Rothenburg, Germany.

I'm really loving the soft but rich feel of this month's kit!

Sewing Lesson Layout

This summer, my boys wanted to learn to sew...actually they wanted to learn how to use my sewing machine. They're pretty fascinated with how it works. We decided to make rice packs, and I decided to scrap the memory in this sewing lesson layout.

They got to choose the fabric that they wanted from my stash. They got to choose the size and simple shape themselves, too. They did all of the sewing themselves (with just a little instruction and guidance from me), too!

This fun project gave me the perfect excuse to run to A Walk Down Memory Lane to get Carta Bella's Sew Lovely. I loved the collection when it came into the store, but I didn't have anything to use it on. Not only did I now have some sewing photos, my boys chose fabric for their projects that coordinated with the colors of the papers. I added a bit of interest to the layout by creating multiple layers with papers, stickers, and journaling cards. I popped some of them up with foam dimensional adhesive.

Hot Air Balloon Shaker Card

Sometimes I create projects because I need something (like a wedding card or I have a photo to scrap), and sometimes I create because I get an idea in my head. Today's project is one of the latter. I got an idea in my head that it would be fun to make a hot air balloon shaker card!

I had been browsing the Silhouette online store and found that cute hot air balloon cutting file from Carta Bella, and knew it would be super cute as a shaker card. I decided to find some Carta Bella paper to make it from, so I wandered into A Walk Down Memory Lane's Brick & Mortar Store empty handed and walked out with some great papers from Carta Bella Summer Lovin.

To cut the hot air balloon out with the Cameo, it just needs a few modifications. I took screen shots of what I did so you can recreate it if you'd like. When you open the file it will look like this:

I moved everything off the cutting area, except for the hot air balloon pieces. I then layered the 2 balloon pieces directly on top of each other.

Finally, I made the striped part of the balloon smaller, to fit inside the larger, solid hot air balloon piece. You can see what I mean in the screen grab below. If you cut the balloon like this, you'll have a border around the edge on which to place your foam adhesive for your shaker compartment.

 I finished up by cutting out the basket for the balloon and the little banner. I stamped and embossed "happy birthday" on the banner. I filled the balloon with matching sequins in a rainbow of colors, and layered it up on some matching paper from Summer Lovin'.

Do you love shaker cards as much as I do? There seems to me no end to the pretty things you can fill with sequins, glitter, or bits of paper to make a shaker!

Making Ice Cream

Today I have a  layout I made of my oldest making ice cream.  He had a project to do for school. The assignment was to learn something new, and then give a small presentation about it.  He decided to learn how to make ice cream (bonus was getting to take the ice cream into school for a snack during his presentation).

I've really been wanting an excuse to use Carta Bella's Homemade with Love collection, and this was a pretty good reason. The colors in the collection just happened to go well with the colors of my (very dark) photos and even helped brighten them up a bit. 

The sticker sheet that went with the collection wasn't quite right for my ice cream layout, so I trimmed some of the icons from the patterned paper and popped them up with some Pop Up Glue Dots®.  A pretty simple way to scrapbook some school fun.

Hello Again Zoo Layout

Today I've made a layout using Carta Bella's Hello Again collection.  I'm still slowly working through our photos from our trip to the Omaha Zoo last summer, and I just finished another one, Here's my Hello Again Zoo Layout:

I talked about cheating hand written titles by cutting them out with a die cutting machine here.  I used my Silhouette to cut the Omaha title.

Then to give it an even more hand drawn feel, I sketched a line underneath it with my Zig Wink of Stella black brush tip marker.  If you haven't tried these markers before, I highly recommend them.  It doesn't show up well in my photograph, but the have some shimmer/sparkle to them.  They come in black, white, silver, and gold.  You can also get them with a more traditional marker tip (and in more colors), but there's just something about the brush tip that I really like.

 I layered up some of the papers and embellishments in a few spots on the layout. 

Pretty simple, but I've got another layout finished and into the books (well, sitting in a pile waiting to be put in a scrapbook at least).

Camping Layout Uisng Wildflower

Today I have a camping layout using Wildflower from Carta Bella. We celebrated the end of last summer with a quick little camping trip.

 As you can see, Wildflower was perfect for scrapping a few pics from our adventure.  It has a lovely nature, woodsy collection that is a bit different than any other camping collection out there.

I have to tell you though, scrapping can be dangerous.  I've been scrapping these photos from our camping trip and remembering the fun...and I said yes to something I told my husband and boys would never, ever, ever happen...I consented to buying a camper:

After this summer, I have a hunch you'll be seeing a few more camping layouts from me...and truthfully, I can't wait!

End of the School Year and Summer Fun

Ah summer, that time when I take a ton of pictures, only get a few of the scrapped because I'm having too much fun playing, and get even less of them posted to my blog!  I hope you're having a really fun summer so far. For this layout I broke out Carta Bella's Beach Boardwalk.  This is a really bright, fun, sophisticated summer line.

I just went with the natural lines of the paper, layered up a photo and added some stitching. It's a pretty simple layout, but I love how it turned out.

I'm also still working on getting the end of the school year photos scrapped.  I picked up a lot of My Mind's Eye's Collectable collection when it came into AWDML.  What can I say, I love MME. They always remember to do plenty of masculine papers and embellishments when they put out a collection and Collectable is no exception. 

 See! Such great colors for scrapping anything...especially my boys.
