On Our Way to Ireland Layout

I have to apologize, I've neglected my blog a bit. My wonderful husband and I ran off to Ireland for a week, and now that I'm back, I'm struggling to play catch up. No complaints here, though. We had a wonderful time, some beautiful weather, and I got to spend a week all by myself with my favorite guy.

I took so many photos, and now I'm slowly going through them (in between getting caught up on laundry, spending time with the kids, and cleaning the house!). I really can't wait to get started scrapping, so I decided to make a quick layout today. Here's my On Our Way to Ireland layout with a few photos we took on our (long) plane flight.

A month or so ago, a friend picked up this paper and matching stickers for me when she visited a scrapbook store out of town. Friends who share your love of patterned paper really are the best!

I decided this paper from Reminisce really was the best one to start my Ireland scrapbook with. There will be no mistaking what the photos inside are all about.

Plus, the scenery in these photos isn't so pretty, so this bright fun paper isn't competing with some pretty landscape shots.

I thought I'd share one more photo from the trip. Now you can see why I'm so excited to get through the photos and spend some time scrapping them!

Race Car Layouts

Every year the school my kids attend hold a remote control car race.  This year my kids took part in it for the first time.  I'm not usually not one to grab super themed papers, but layouts about a remote control car race need race papers and stickers.  I have 2 race car layouts from the event.

Both layouts use a mix of race themed papers and stickers from Moxxie Racing,  Reminisce Racing, Reminisce Speed Champions, and Scrappin' Sports Racing. 

These collections were really easy, and a lot of fun to work with.

Farm Life

Cutesy isn't usually a word I'd use to describe my scrapping, but once in a while, I like to dabble in the super cute. I live in farm country, my in-laws have animals on their farm, and Best Creation's ridiculously adorable Farm Life collection called to me.

 

...and some of the papers are even glittery! Adorable, right? What's a girl to do except make an equally cute mini album from it. 

 I decided to make an accordion album.  It's been a while since I've made one in this style and they're so versatile. You can make them just about any size or shape you chose. This one measures 4" x 4".   To make it just a little different, I rounded 2 of the corners.

Due to the length of the album, these photos post a little small, but you can click on the photo to see a full screen version of the picture.  I like that accordian albums are really easy to display. They stand up on their own, and you can fill both sides with photos. 

I used some dimensional stickers from Reminisce at the Farm collection that I thought went well with the Best Creations paper.

 I also added in some random embellishments (like Little Yellow Bicycle Naturals, enamel dots, ribbon, word stickers, and buttons).

St. Patty's Day Cards

This Irish girl LOVES St. Patty's Day. I always send cards to my grandparents to celebrate.  These are the cards I made this year:

I kept the outsides and the insides simple this year. I was a bit sick when I made them, so I wasn't really big on the idea of taking hours to create them. I kept the insides simple too. Instead of stamping I used stickers from Reminisce Shamrock Collection.

To add a little pizazz to the cards, I decided to add a little shimmer. For the Salante card (similar to saying "Cheers") I ran the background paper through my Big Shot with a honeycomb embossing folder.

 Then I rubbed a little Versamark ink over it and dusted it with copper and green Perfect Pearls.

 For my second card I added shimmer by cutting a background from American Craft Pow! Glitter Paper with my Silhouette.

 I love how easy it is to cut Pow! paper with my Silhouette. Even the intricate details of this background!

Farm Boys

My in-laws live on a small farm with lots of animals. When you're a little boy, life doesn't get much better than getting dirty on the farm. Every time we set foot at their house, the first thing out of my boys' mouths is, "Can we go play on the bales?" Of course, I had to photograph and scrap this summer fun.

I ended up with 3 total layouts. 1 of my oldest, 1 of my youngest, and one of them both together. I decided to do all my journaling on the one of them both together, so I was able to get a little extra creative on the layouts that I didn't journal on. Today, I'd like to share the 2 layouts without journaling. If you'd like to see the 3rd layout, you'll be able to find it on Thursday over on the AWDML Blog.

I wanted to have a little fun with this first layout and pay homage to where we live. Those Iowa stickers from Reminisce are a whole lot of fun, and this layout was the perfect time to use them. Let me point out something that's a little outside my norm for scrapping. See that sky paper I used for the base? Not something I would usually have on hand, let alone use. You see, the back side of the Blue Sky October Afternoon Woodland Park paper is a beautiful pattern. That's the side I would normally use...but for this layout, it just seemed to work. I paired that paper with Moxxie's Farm Livin' collection, and distressed the edges.

 For the second layout, I decided to use the wood grain papers from My Mind's Eye's On the Bright Side collection.

I paired that with some stickers from Making Memories, Simple Stories, and Echo Park, plus a button from Bazzill. All in all, it's a pretty good fit for the photo, and I got to use up some leftover stickers from other projects.
