Pool Days Layout

My kids LOVE to swim. Recently my youngest and I took a vacation just the two of us. Rain or shine, we got so much swimming in! Today's layout is a Pool Days layout from that trip.

These photos are actually from the first day and the last day at the resort while on our trip. Two of the 3 pools were heated, so we were the crazy mid-westerners who were happy to swim in any weather.

I started with the Paper House HP Moment Makers Fun in the Sun Sticker Frame Kit knowing it would pair perfectly with the tropical Flamingo papers from Paper House. The kit is meant to work as a standalone frame for one photo, but I love breaking the pieces and stickers apart for a layout instead. You get such a fun mix of textures with the smooth stickers, layered stickers, and even some glitter.

I finished the layout up with a few additional layered stickers from Paper House Beach 3D Stickers.

Pizza and Beer Layout

Today's layout celebrates some of the finer things in life; Pizza and Beer.

Whenever we travel, we like to find a mom and pop pizza joint and indulge in some homemade pizza. This was from a little hole in the wall we found in Munich. We also like to try as many different beers as possible, and try to remember to photograph each different kind. It's always fun to see which beers we can get our hands on when we're back in the States.

I used a bit of color blocking to create this layout. Usually I use a multicolored patterned paper as the background to pull everything together. However, for this layout it seemed a bit busy, so instead I used that paper just to mat one set of photos. The multi-color sheet still serves its purpose of pulling all the colors together.

These were also the last photos I had of that particular day in Germany, so I also used the layout to wrap up my journaling about the events of that day.

What food traditions do you and your family have?

Museum Layout

Today I have another travel layout. This one is from a museum visit.

Scrapping a museum always seems a bit weird to me. I want to have enough photos to spark my memory, but photos of things I saw at a museum aren't always top on my list of things to look at. This layout was made even more tricky, as it was actually my husband who went to the museum when we were on vacation in Germany. He really liked the exhibit, and I wanted to include that memory in our Germany album.

I've been trying to use up my (very large) stash of scrapbooking paper. This paper is from an older Authentique collection called Quest. I thought the vintage industrial vibe of the collection went well with the theme of the exhibit (German technology through the ages). I was pretty excited to use some gear embellishments I had in my stash, too!

Have you scrapped a museum trip before? How did you save the memories?

Time to Climb 2 Page Travel Layout

It's been a bit since I worked on my Germany trip album. Initially, I was hoping to have it done in one year. Now we're 2 years out and I'm about 2/3 of the way done. Honestly, I just wasn't feeling inspired for a bit, so it sat in time out. I'm finally excited about working on it a bit again, so today I have this Time to Climb 2 Page Travel Layout.

When we travel we climb everything we can. The hike up is always worth seeing the city from a bird's eye view. While I've already scrapped a few selfies from the top of this climb, I also wanted to document the climb to and view from the top.

For this layout, I used the Be Happy Paper Pad from Paper House as my starting point. All of the patterned papers, the journaling tag, and many of the stickers (including the alphas) are from the paper pad. The mix of pale pinks, black, and pops of gold make a really beautiful background for just about any picture, but I especially love how the colors make the rooftop colors in my photos pop.

I supplemented my embellishments with a few word stickers I had in my stash. I especially love how the mint and gold stickers add a little extra color to layout.

It feels good to be scrapping my Germany photos again...who knows, maybe I'll finish the book this year!
