Wand Holder

The truth is, I'm a full on geek. I love science fiction, and fantasy, and Dr. Who, and Star Wars, and I love Harry Potter. Recently, I went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando with a friend, so I had to have a wand. Then, my husband, boys and I went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Hollywood. All 3 of them purchased wands, too! I decided I needed to find a way to display our wands, so they wouldn't just sit in their boxes forever. Here are the wand holders that I came up with.

We all ended up wanting a stained wood background for our wand displays, but I think a painted wood would be pretty, too. These got hung in our bedrooms, so I made a double wand holder for my husband and me.

I have Fleur's wand and he has Sirius Black's. I used my Silhouette Cameo to create an Ollivanders cut file that was as close to the bag that the wand came is as I possibly could get. Then, I cut my file out on silver vinyl from SRM.

My youngest chose Harry Potter's wand and thought it would be fun to have "You're a wizard, Harry." on his holder instead. He chose a bronze vinyl. I didn't think it popped enough on the dark wood, so we decided to outline it with a white paint pen.

My oldest chose an unclaimed wand (a wand that isn't associated with a character from the books or movies). I love the look of his wand! I tried to talk him into putting "The wand chooses the wizard." on his wand holder, but in the end, he really liked the look of the Ollivanders logo, too. I'm so excited to have these fun wand holders as a way to display our souvenirs.

I wrote this post while working on the SRM Design Team.

Where did you find the Ollivanders image for your silhouette?

Whitney, I scanned the image from the Ollivanders bag that our wands came in into my Silhouette software and then used the trace function to create a file. I'd be happy to share my cut file with you if you send me your e-mail. You can contact me at taylorstamped@gmail.com

I would love this file if you still have?
