Lighthouse Layout

This past March I got to go on vacation with just my youngest. It was fun to spend some time traveling with just the two of us. While Dad and Older Brother were out west snowmobiling, we headed east to the beach for some sun and sea. Here's a lighthouse layout from that trip.

A family rule of thumb is to climb everything you can possibly climb. The view is always worth it! Our first day at Hilton Head Island, we headed to the iconic red and white lighthouse and made the climb to take in the views.

I knew that Paper House Discover USA collection had some great nautical/coastal themed papers. The blues in the collection really made the red in my photos pop. Paper House also has stickers dedicated to different states. Being able to use South Carolina themed stickers really helped personalize the layout. I also used a HHI sticker that the merchants were handing out when you made a purchase at a store.

If you're planning a road trip or getaway this summer, check out Discover USA for scrapping your photos, and remember you can always save 20% on your entire purchase at Paper House by using code PH20SAMANTHA when you check out.

Happy Day Cards

Today I have a set of Happy Day cards. I made these for Mother's Day, but they could just as easily be used for a birthday or congratulations card.

This is another set of cards where I tried to use just card stock, stickers, and die cuts. Both of these cards were made with  planner stickers and die cuts from Mommy Lhey.

I love a clean and simple looking card. I added a little extra detail by layering white card stock on top of itself and adding a little de-bossed border around the whole card as well. I really liked the girl with the umbrella, so I started with her and picked other embellishments that coordinated to build out the card.

The gold foil accents on these embellishments are really the star of this card. To ground the "happy day" sentiment, I layered 3 washi tape looking stickers behind the sentiment.

I hope you have a happy day, too!

Hideaway Layout

We recently bought land in the Black Hills (South Dakota). After everything finally went through, we made a quick trip out as a family to our property. We had to stop and take a picture with the road sign in the background. This is my Hideaway Layout from that photo.

Paper House Great Outdoors will always be one of my favorite collections. It's just the perfect collection for scrapping wilderness, hiking, fishing, hunting, or camping photos. There are tons of fun patterned papers full of deep, earthy colors.

There are also a ton of coordinating embellishments (like card stock stickers, 3D stickers, enamel stickers, puffy stickers, stick on pockets, and epoxy clips to name just a few) that you can use the collection over and over again and create completely different looking layouts each time.

With our new property, I have a feeling you'll be seeing a lot of layouts featuring Great Outdoors.

Thank You Cards

I needed a few thank you cards and I just happened to receive a package of goodies from Mommy Lhey. I decided to put those 2 things together and I came up with these thank you cards.

It has been a very long time since I created cards without any patterned paper on them. I started out paper crafting making cards, mostly just with stamps and colored card stock. When I began to scrapbook, I fell in love with all the pretty patterned paper and it made its way into my cards. It felt like a bit of a fun throwback challenge to create with just stickers, stamps, and ink.

This first thank you note is going to the ladies who board our dogs when we can't take them with us. I chose the cute pet sticker on the front of the card first, and then built the rest of the card around that. I also thought it would be fun to send a couple of vinyl stickers from Paper House in the card. They say "Home is Where the Dog is" and "Home is Where the Cat is."

For this second card, I chose the 3 floral stickers from a planner sticker set. I then built the card around those 3 stickers. It's hard to see in the photo, but the stickers all have a pretty gold foil edging to them that makes them a great focal point.

It was super fun to step outside of my comfort zone for these cards, and I hope the recipients enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.
